My oh my, how long has it been since I posted a report? Exploring has become a low priority for me ever since I left the UK, even if I've always kept tabs on new sites shared here and on social media. Truth be told learning Mandarin and my lady have taken a much bigger priority in recent years, plus my lady is no fan of me going about it alone so that makes organising jaunts more challenging. I have visited a fair few sites around Taiwan, but compared to Europe there is so little here...

Good morning girls and guys.

My boy has a topic on WW2 bunkers for school and I was wondering if you know of any air raid shelters locally that we could go and explore for research?

We are planning on popping over to Ashley road, Cane hill/Coulsdon shelter is currently well concreted over and will take the local 'yoofs' a while to gain access again ;) Is the Carlshalton one accessible?

Visited here twice over the span of a week, once with the SO, and the second with @mookster,@Brewtal, @Zotez and @obscurity.
It's a big place and I didn't realise how much I'd missed till the second visit!

History

Bulstrode house (listed grade II) lies towards the centre of the park. Rebuilt by Benjamin Ferrey 1860-2 for the twelfth Duke of Somerset, probably incorporating elements of the earlier buildings, it is a...

Hi there, first post and I thought I'd start with a big one for my first report - my one and only trip to a Coke Factory in South Wales. An by Coke I don't mean the soft drink but the fuel source.

History

Cwm Coke's origins lie with the Great Western Railway and provided its supply of coal. The GWR sunk pits at the Cwm site in 1909 as well as in other areas of the Rhondda, but Cwm didn't become known for it's coke until 1958 when the coking ovens and associated plant for producing...

Torch Buying Guide & FAQ - 2019
I've noticed recently a lot of people on here and on various related Facebook pages asking about what torch to buy with barely any information on what they want. Normally followed by a good amount of #Torchchat. I'm a sucker for #Torchchat, but I realised we don't really have proper guide or reference on exploring related torch buying. So I'm gonna make one.

This is by no means a definitive guide, but will help point you in the...

Haut Fourneau 4, commonly known as just HF4 was part of the Cockerill-Sambre steelworks, a vast industrial site in Belgium. Steel has been produced at the site since the early 1800’s. The blast furnace was used for smelting iron ore and was the major technique used for the production of steel at the time. The iron and steel produced at HF4 were mainly used for car production, an industry that almost collapsed in 2008. Production at the steelworks was halted and the plant placed on standby...

Hi guys. I'm new to this site and looking for some abandoned places in Doncaster and Sheffield, especially the Doncaster area. What would anyone recommend? I've heard of the grand theatre, school for girls, registry office, hampole house, pilkington and the baths, but isn't there anything else?

1. The History
Loads of history on this place due to it being Grade II listed. The World War II Heavy Anti-aircraft (HAA) gunsite was known as Station H21 and included seven gun emplacements; one for a Light Anti-aircraft (LAA) weapon, four gun pits and a command post. It’s date of establishment is unknown but was unarmed in June 1942. During the second world war guns were often moved from one site to another this does not necessarily mean it had been totally abandoned. The...

This was our first visit to this site. This is the 5th site we have visited in the UK so still fairly new to the urbex community. Looking forward to posting many more visits on here in the near future!

History
The mock-Tudor building was originally built in 1874. Purchased by Ian Gillan of Deep Purple in the early 70s, the property was renovated and used as a country home.

Until 2014, it was used as a 32-bed hotel for visiting golfers and visitors to the beautiful surrounding area...

This site has been done a lot I know but had a look around last month, it was a nice mooch, my entry however wasn’t the most graceful. The cave was pretty cool but after going in about 20/30 metres the ground was just completely loose rock so decided not to go any further. Some of the graffiti really ruined it but still nice!
I didn’t have my camera at the time so I apologise that the iPhone photos aren’t the best.

Hi, I've recently started exploring abandoned building for a YouTube series and am currently looking for new places to go that can still be accessed (as most are boarded up) in or near the doncaster area. I have been Pilkington and the manor house but are struggling to fine more places that are still accessible, any suggestions?

Bowmans Flour / Whitley Bridge Mill, Eggborough - February 2019

Whitley Bridge Mill was originally built in 1870s by John and Thomas Croysdale. Powered by electricity and steam, the mill utilised roller milling, a technique that had revolutionised the flour industry. For more than 100 years the mill was owned by James Bowman & Sons Ltd. Bowmans ceased operations at the mill in 2016 after making the decision to move away from flour milling, and the mill was subsequently closed.

Much of the machinery and equipment had been sold at auction, and extensive...

I first visited this old mine a few years ago, but having not yet worked out how to take photos in dark places my pics were crap, frankly.... More recently I’ve spent a bit of time searching for other mine entrances in various woodland across Sheffield with varied success, so I retuned for a quick revisit of this place to get some better photos. Not far into the tunnel you reach a collapsed section, so it barely constitutes an ‘explore’ (unless you have...
