Hi-Roll Cottage - Surrey - August 2017

Took me a while to find this place after getting help from another explorer, i found this place, in what seemed an even sadder state than photographed before. For anyone not familiar with this place:

History
No-one seems to know the definite time that this place was abandoned, but most speculate the 90's to 00's. Seems about right from the state of the place. The owner was some kind of automotive engineer, with many miscellaneous cars littered throughout the property, and only...

Brief History
Parc was the largest, most successful and last mine to close in the Gwydyr Forest. Official records date production from the mine to around 1860-ish (exact date varies by source) as the Gwydyr Park Consols by the D’Ersby and Gwydyr Company formed from an amalgamation of older workings . The mine was operated on and off before finally finishing up in 1958. It for experiments into automated milling during 1962-3 before finally closing for good.
Rock was extracted...

1. The History
This parish church stands near to Market Stainton Hall and is dedicated to St Michael and dates from the 13th century. It is Grade II listed and built of greenstone, limestone and red brick and consists of a chancel and nave with south porch and a large embattled western tower. The church is disused having been made redundant by the Diocese of Lincoln and is currently for sale by private treaty, on the Instructions of Diocese of Lincoln at a guide piece of...

What's the coolest thing you've ever found on an urbex?

This is just a quick, interesting question - what is the coolest thing you've ever found exploring somewhere? I'm posting this as I went to a secret bottle dump between Tilbury and Coalhouse Fort along the coastal path and found two pocket watches, some rare bottles and (yes, indeed) a grenade which I just chucked into the rocks and ran :) Sorry no pictures as camera still broken from Red Sands boat tour.

After another laborious week at work counting down the days to the weekend, finally Sunday arrived and after some brainstorming, quick planning and googling we set of around 1pm from Bury St Edmunds and headed to Shrubland Hall, just outside of Ipswich for the first location in a day filled with exploring (1 of 3 stops). Having lived in the countryside all my life i have a real appreciation for being in the middle of nowhere! and this place is pretty much just that , there are plenty of...

History
I don’t know much history on this place, apart from it was owned by a Richard Noble, and has been abandoned since around 2008 when he died at the age of 78. Richard Noble was an Expert in British History and was very passionate about music.

The explore
So after me searching for the place for so long and then finally having A LOT of help from another explorer on this site, I decided to check it out last night.

I had read about the security of Charterhouse...

History

Luddington House is a Grade II listed 17th century house, situated in Surrey. It would appear that over time various extensions have been made to the house and it would suggest that more recently some of the building has been used as flats/apartments.

The Explore

4th location of the day and an extremely relaxed explore. Various groups of people came and went whilst we were inside. A real labyrinth of a house with an assortment of all different styles of rooms all...

History

Westbury House is a grand country house located at the extreme west of the Parish of East Meon. The original house was lost to a fire and the current building was rebuilt in 1904. In 1924 the estate was broken up and the house was sold to Thomas Whitehead at auction, he converted it into a boys’ preparatory school. The school ran until 1977, when it closed, either due to lack of pupils or financial reasons.

In its later years the house was used as a care home specialising in...

known about this one for a while and decided to have a look, we had a look around for any entrances and found a gate that was open just enough to squeeze through into the back of the airport . first we had a look in some outbuildings that were heavily vandalized, still, some very old computer stuff lying around, strangely enough,we found about 15 hard drives all smashed up outside the building.

The Visit
I Visited this one back in April with @Choo Choo m8ty, we hadn't set out with the intention of hitting this one but as we drove past we decided to take a look and see if it was doable. And it payed off, once we were in the building we spent several hours exploring every square metre of the building, unfortunately the building is in a pretty pro state with graffiti plastered over the walls. However a few nice little...

Sorry it’s been a while since I last posted -
High Lines Cottage..
This location has been sitting under the radar since it was abandoned 9 years ago.

HISTORY - this is literally what I found out about the place while inside, there is none online.

2 elderly lived here.. * husband and wife * The lady sadly died of cancer in 2009 and left the man to live on his own, but not long after he went missing and has never been found in the house since. I think this man committed suicide after...

Been keeping hold of this as I didn't want to put the same report from 2 different people up at the same time.

After seeing a link to the Newspaper article in chat on here and passing the info on to Camerashy, I was there literally 1 hour after Camerashy.

Built in 1939 as an overflow for the former War Memorial Hospital, it is thought to be the only one of its kind to survive in North Wales.

It said records showed that among those taken to the mortuary were the victims of German plane...

I'm looking to get a gas monitor for ironstone mine exploration.

My main question is, will a single gas monitor (o2) suffice?

I know the real danger with ironstone is low oxygen levels, but are there any other gas dangers in ironstone mines that would warrant a more expensive 4x monitor?

The monitor I'm looking at is a Scott Protégé ZM Single Gas Monitor. The main appeal is the price and...

History
For some reason I can't seem to find a lot of history on this building and as far as I'm aware it's not listed. The church was built in 1907 to designs of architects Evans, Williams & Evans of Pontypridd in the lancet style and incorporating many red terracotta features, including the arcades and window tracery. The exterior stonework on the northern end and blocked arches internally suggest a chancel was planned but never built. The church closed sometime around 2005...

I'm aware this report has been done quite recently, however I hope you still find it interesting. It's my first real report so I'd appreciate if it got approved.

On a cold frosty night on Boxing Day eve myself, 'Avix' off here and another mate decided to go venture and do our first Urban Explore. And boy did it live up to expectation! The adrenaline was going but I was also on edge the whole time, I realised this after a slow closing door slammed shut after we'd been through it a while...
